Hi!

Post by Seedy on Wed Sep 02, 2009 2:26 pm

A complete newbie to the topic so be prepared to see all sorts of dumb questions from me...

I'm just buying a house abroad and am getting keys to only one of the 3 external doors, hence my interest Very Happy . It's something I've always had a hankering to try anyway, so I just hope my hamfistedness won't be TOO much of a disappointment to me (and the boss! Embarassed )

Well, I hope it won't take over my life or I'll have to get one of you lot to unlock me!

I'm probably going OTT already so I'd better keep quiet but my collection of kit is already growing at a VERY alarming rate..... Very Happy

I think they're all eurocylinders so I'm not anticipating too many problems with them! Unfortunately it was all so exciting that I didn't really take much notice of the locks.....pillock! Embarassed

The real problem is what to replace them with, to stop someone else doing what I'm hoping to do when I'm not around Very Happy

Steel doors are quite popular there (Bulgaria) but I've noticed that some of them seem to be fitted into pretty manky wooden frames.... Rolling Eyes

Hi seedy, and welcome to the madhouse !! lol! One thing I tended to do when I first started, was to start with a small kit, and because I didn't have any luck, I bought bigger and bigger kits, thinking that they would help and do better, but have subsequently found that I only normally use 3 different picks for almost everything !

Cant advice on type of lock to use out there as ive never been however i lived in spain for some time and one of the more secure locks was euro type TESA T80 6 pin anti pick with 2 anti drill pins and dimple type key whith two extra security pins required to be lifted at same time as the normal 6 pins quite difficult to pick for the amiture thief .
Steel doors sound a bit excessive ? wooden frames sounds crap (replace )
Good luck in your venture there keep us informed how it pans out for you !!.
