bumper69™© wrote:well hello all the plumbers lol! ok so the filling unit was changed in the cistern ages ago but for some reason its now doing the same thing as the old one...it seems to be filling still even when the float valve is fully closed so it keeps trickling down the overflow pipe to outside...i reckon the system pressure could be too high, it reads about 1bar on the gauge on the boiler unit in the garage even if the heatings not switched on or any taps open...anyone got any ideas?? bearing in mind it takes at least an hour to two hours for the level to rise in the cistern.
Hi Bumper and all sorry ive been away for a few days so not been able to access the site
Anyway seems you had a prob with the cistern overflow i guess you mean on the toilet ?
The flowmaster was a good choice replacement part and should have worked however it seems it did not i would have sugested that the inlet valve (where the water enters the valve) was cleaned free of any debris sometimes happens when changing old for new a small bit of grit or dirt gets in there preventing it from shutting off completely thus allowing water to pass through the valve hence the overflow in a few hours or days .
Some good advice from the others though
All sorted now so well done.
Im back now for a few more weeks so any more qs like this i hopefully will answer
keep em coming guys
